Are you on Clubhouse yet? How are you finding it?

Some are finding it wonderful, others seem to be getting addicted, yet others have been attacked by some who are ‘posturing’.

Personally I have really enjoyed it. My ‘natural’ medium is audio so for me it feels as if I have ‘come home’. And with some wisdom in choosing groups, I have found most into which I have ventured are really supportive, helpful and encouraging.

It is really important to complete your bio and to link it to your instagram and twitter account. My challenge is I do not have either of the latter. In an early group, one of the helpful, lovely moderators, learning some of my ‘learning inabilities, offered to help me. It hasn’t yet happened but that is not the issue. The acceptance and willingness to help, when I was not even ‘complying’ with the ‘norm’, is sooo refreshing. It is wonderful to be accepted!

Is it all good? No. Like all good things, some are using it a way that is less acceptable. So be careful. If you find yourself in a group that makes you uncomfortable, don’t stay!

Indeed I was in a group a few days ago and observed unhelpful behaviour from the ‘powerful’. It was a big group so the person who spoke had literally waited for hours to have his few moments to present his ideas. It was clearly something in which he truly believed and where he had real needs. He requested assistance from the ‘experts’.

Even if the experts did not give him the ‘golden egg he was seeking’ ie investment that would ‘save his community’, they could have guided him helpfully regarding the way he presented his proposition.  Had he belonged to ‘the club’ they probably would …

Instead one of the ‘powerful’ took the opportunity to say something that was completely irrelevant to his situation. No one from his country would have learned anything from the presentation; and there were loads of people from his country in that room!

Instead the ‘powerful’ used the guys ‘answer time’ to present his own business proposition; that did not relate in any way!

If you see such behaviour or someone being attacked, unless you feel you can do something constructive to help, it may be best to leave. Whatever happens, make sure you stay safe …

Starting where I began, my overall experience has been really positive. It would be great to get my bio, insta etc done; but the interest in sustainability, green SMART cities has been palpable. This is SO encouraging!
