I’ve been thinking a lot about logo styles lately because I’m helping a friend launch a small coffee brand. We were looking at different options for the logo and noticed how many modern brands use very simple, minimalist designs. At the same time, some detailed logos still look really memorable. I remember a few years ago I tried designing a logo for my own small online shop and I made it way too complicated, with icons and textures everywhere. Later someone told me that simpler logos often scale better for social media and packaging. So now I’m curious what others think. For modern brands, do minimalist logos actually work better, or can detailed logos still stand out if done right?

Just scrolling through this thread while taking a break from work. Branding discussions always pop up here and it’s interesting how different industries look at design in completely different ways. I work in printing and we see all kinds of logos come through — some super simple, some really complex. Sometimes the ones that look basic on screen actually print the best on packaging or merch. It really depends on where the logo is used. Anyway, cool topic. Always interesting to see how people approach branding decisions.

From what I’ve seen working with a couple of small startups, minimal logos usually perform better, especially online where everything has to look clean on mobile screens. When we were brainstorming logo design ideas for startups, I came across a really helpful article about companies with green logo and how brands use simple color-based identity to stay recognizable. That actually changed how we approached our branding. Instead of adding more elements, we focused on color and typography. It made the brand look more modern and flexible. Detailed logos can still work, but I think they require a very strong concept, otherwise they just look busy.
