I've been feeling so disconnected from my partner lately and I think it stems from me having a really low libido. It's causing a strain on our relationship and I feel incredibly guilty. I've tried talking to my doctor, but they just suggested some medication that I'm not keen on taking. Has anyone found therapy helpful for low libido, and do you think it's worth exploring? I'm open to anything that could help us reconnect emotionally and physically.

The social impact of low libido is a theme often overlooked in discussions about sexual health. Many individuals experience feelings of shame, guilt, and inadequacy as a result of not meeting societal expectations around sexual desire. It is crucial to acknowledge these emotional aspects and create supportive environments where people feel comfortable discussing their concerns without judgment. Normalising the conversation and challenging rigid expectations can greatly benefit individuals struggling with these issues.

It definitely sounds like therapy could be a worthwhile avenue to explore. While medication can sometimes help with libido, it doesn't always address the underlying emotional or relational factors. It sounds like you want to try something a little more personal and supportive, I looked a little into the topic and it seems that even erectile dysfunction therapy UK could be an option for couples because it's about opening up and finding out more about each other. It focuses on understanding those underlying root causes and developing coping strategies. I’d say it's worth doing some research and finding a therapist specializing in this area.
