Rehabilitation Specialists pivoting online to better serve their existing customer base during COVID-19!

Designed2Move was first dreamt up in 2015, where it launched and saw significant success by providing specialist rehabilitation to a niche market. They worked predominantly with individuals who have suffered multiple traumas and required specialist care.

With a holistic approach, utilizing psychological aspects where needed, Designed2Move focused on providing the best experience for its clients, even if they were not the ones necessarily footing the bill. A focus on helping the clients to recover their full potential and to restore the function to live, work, and play. It’s not surprising they’ve just celebrated their fifth year in business.

  • A New Old Plan

Heather Watson has been a member of the Genius U community since 2019, having taken the Success Accelerator program with mentor Terri Vincent. At the time, Heather was working on a plan to develop and launch a remote rehabilitation service, which was all ready to launch March 2020 just as COVID hit and the team had to face the changing circumstances. Luckily they were already ready to pivot and the exact offering, which has been dreamed up a year previously, was now a perfect solution for the coming lockdown and social distancing measures in the UK.

However, unlike the original plan which was to focus on new clients, the product was tailored for existing ones. Designed2Move’s efforts became about giving the best level of care to their already existing client base. It was a tough transition for many, but with over 90% making the move, the team stepped up and delivered the care that was needed. They truly went from a high-touch service to a high-tech one, making sure to keep their ethos alive.

  • Focusing on the Cashflow First

One of the key moves Heather made when COVID struck was to get involved with the Crisis Leadership Academy. Implementing Roger James Hamilton’s advice to apply for funding almost immediately, a business saving move, as it took 12 weeks to come through but it helped keep the business afloat.

Beyond that, the CLA also provided Heather with the guidance she needed to continue on the path she and her team had decided on. Assuring them they were on the right track. This allowed her to connect with other business owners, who were going through the same thing as they were, finding reassurance from the community and a better overview of the world picture.

  • Back on Track

During COVID Designed2Move has seen continued regular referrals and inquiries, as well as new business coming through its doors. They’ve also been able to launch their ‘Designed2Move Wisdom Centre’, an information-based training platform enabling team and partners to work with the company.

And although not a massive revenue generator now, Heather knows in the long term it will create the partnerships and build a wider, better-qualified team, to be able to deliver more services to more people. Ultimately enabling Designed2Move to grow. Something they plan to continue to do so, whatever the future may hold.
