Ian Woodhouse has been part of the Genius family for quite some time, working steadily to grow his business and his knowledge of entrepreneurship. At present, he’s a flow consultant and performance flow consultant, using the tools and teachings from Genius Group in his business ‘Nimble Business Coaching’ to nurture and support health and wellness professionals who are purpose-driven.
More than just helping them with their business success, Ian feels passionate about taking a look at the long term picture. Often, like many entrepreneurs, Health and Wellness professionals focus on one-time service and products, but Ian believes they can both improve the lives of their customers and their own business flow by taking a longer-term approach with regular check-ups, complementary services and product delivery.
- Lack of Clarity
Before joining the Entrepreneur Summer School, Ian lacked clarity of what exactly he was offering to his clients. He had in fact been part of the Crisis Leadership Academy previously but the information provided didn’t quite sink in and it took a bit of time to digest in Ian’s mind. By joining ESS, Ian knew it would help him understand what he was doing and who he was helping.
One of the biggest changes that came about by being part of ESS was working with his mentor Paulina Roach, who very quickly identified an issue at the heart of Ian’s business model. As Ian was still working full time and referring to Nimble Business Coaching as a side hustle, it meant his focus and perspective were not trained on growing the business. He wasn’t able to see the bigger picture of what he wanted to do. With this new clarity, Ian began to build a promotion plan that would see him able to step away from his full-time work and no longer play small.
- Accountability = Action
Another key benefit from joining ESS this time around was the accountability it provided. With the Agile Leadership week kicking off the school, Ian was forced to start working on his plan. No more delay, because if he didn’t bring anything to the follow-ups calls with these mentors, not only was he losing valuable time with them but he wasn’t making the most of his investment in the programme. It was the best kind of accountability, the one that kicks you up the backside and gets you moving in the right direction.
Overall the most significant results from the ESS for Ian was the fantastic value he received from all the mentors, across the micro-schools and of course, from Paulina. With so much great advice on offer, it was hard not to take action. For so long, Ian had felt like it was a chore to get the work for Nimble done but now it felt easy to carry out the actions of his plan. From the school, he created a decision making pathway that allowed him to question his actions more easily and assess how beneficial they were to his business or not. A big improvement of just following where his heart took him.
ESS gave Ian the clarity he needed and then everything waterfalled after that. Being part of a community with mentors on hand to guide enabled what all entrepreneurs truly need; which ultimately is to get stuff done.
