*P.S. Since writting this post, everythings gotten deeper. In fact, it's almost time to up-play the narrative. Until that moment finds me - this is something I feel is pretty spot on to anyone and everyone who is honestly driven by real-deal-purpose-stuff. *

Not too long ago, I wrapped up a bootcamp with Copenhagen Business Campus on all things Social Entrepreneurship. I wanted to get an upfront feel and understanding of this world, given the rise of consciousness – and I wanted to know where exactly this heart-shaped world sat on this very topic. And that’s really another shift for another post, for another time. During the process, we got into the never ending deep diving conversation of business plans… The first question people had asked how you planned to change the world. The second was all about the money. The third made me shudder. Can you really put an exit plan on your purpose?

Where energy goes, energy flows.

The law of attraction states that where you put your energy is where you reap your results. So imagine this: the minute you give yourself a doorway out of something, the more tempting that doorway is going to be. This isn’t rocket science. You know better than that. But trust me at any speed wobble you’ll want to say “it’s broken, I can’t do this, no one loves me, I’m not good enough, and other variations of blah-blah-blah… and you’ll give up on a good thing before it had a chance to take seed.

Say you need to go to the gym… but you give yourself the option of sunbathing instead. Or sleeping in. You’re already creating resistance. And even if you find yourself honouring the original intent, the other still lingers. Now imagine, you wake up late … or something happens. You’ll be tempted to give yourself a break, hide, avoid, or switch things up and VIOLA Huston we have a problem.

Now raise the stakes by 1.1 million as you go into business for yourself. Sure you have a lot more to prove. The stakes are a lot more higher. And the beach feels like a non-option but when the bad days come, and the bills are not getting erased … we tend to get a little gaga.

Sometimes a business needs time to blossom. Ok pretty much always. No matter what awards your thesis statement and research brings through the door … things don’t always 3D print into reality as they exist on paper. There are just too many factors that influence that transition from the vision into the practical. Some people get to experience a good start (not to be confused with a lucky break) and they start turning profits sooner than others. Awesome. But chances are, these are the entrepreneurs that went a little bit further than just doing their homework in the early stages of development. And that doesn’t mean they’re overnight successes either. Not all hares win the race. (you know, tortoise and the hare, big race, amazing metaphor?!)

Speaking about GAGA. The crazy days hits. The pressure is on, and our little baby needs us. Forget the kid throwing a hissy fit in isle 5, this is it. We do everything we know to please it, make it work. Desperation kicks in. Stubbornness galore.

Till death do us part. Calling all overachievers, proud parents, earth signs, stubborn-fix junkies, and Capricorns.

Oh boy, do I know this void all too well. Can you tell? Maybe it’s because I’m an Earth sign, a Capricorn, or well ok – every darn thing on that list …. (I’ll admit it) but sometimes we build Fort Knox around our dreams without a clear exit strategy. This is the other twisted part of the tale. Sometimes we just don’t know when to let go. I’ve been there. I’ve worked with some people who are still there. And some people who gave up too fast too.

With determination breeds desperation. Structures become systems, and systems flip flop into do this and try that. Next thing you know you’re chasing dreams instead of making dreams. Meanwhile you’re so blinkers on, falling deeper down a rabbit hole, that you actually lose sight of the answer. What is there was more to life than just freeze-flight-fight. What if you had an exit strategy that helped you pivot instead.

Some entrepreneurs go through a whole lot of incantations to find their ultimate 3D reality business. They bookmark things. Close chapters. Start a dance class instead. But the amazing thing that happens is when you lead with purpose, everything comes around with some gift to offer your true business and your ultimate brand. And there’s a fine line between calling your bluff, exiting altogether, and returning to the seed.

We get stuck in the form a business must take. Instead, we need to connect with the seed.

That’s why you can’t put an exit plan on your purpose -but you do need to practice the art of non-attachment, pivoting practices, intuitive intelligence, learning and adjusting, and above all honouring your purpose not its shape-shifting current incantation.
