I was watching Doctor Strange and one of the last the scene it reminded me a lot of my coaching sessions with Steve Chandler.

In the scene The AncientOne is telling Doctor Strange about his future and that she sees a great capacity for goodness because of his abilities to excel, but not because his search for success it was more because of his fear of failure. And then Doctor Strange tell her “That is one of the reasons I am a great doctor” and the teacher answers him with this amazing quote “Arrogance and fear will keep you from learning the most simple lesson of all… Is not about you.”

When I was were asking Steve Chandler about a proposal that I was doing for a client and I was filled with fear and doubts about if it was a good enough proposal, if the pricing was good so he would not think that I was robbing him, etc. and with a calm voice he said “Remember Gabriel Is never about you.” Is not about the proposal to the client is about you helping him solve his problem, so instead of asking how do you look with your pricing point, let's focus in what is the best solution for his problem.

I keep remembering that lesson and I teach it to other clients not as a technique or marketing tool but as a way to be in every interaction with costumes.
