Wondering how to engage your audience? Totally, I have obsessed about this for the last 20 years! As I was building the most exotic events, spending $100K plus per participant I was wondering how can we capture not just an epic event, but one that everyone will talk for years about! But now, knowing we only have 7 sec to engage an audience how do you captivate them? Here are the top tips to get your audience engaged (and no not just some more marketing talk):

Make sure you speak your audience language!
There is no point in bedazzling your audience with technical terms only you understand. Jump on a call with your top customers and listen. Don't share your thoughts, but ask pointed questions like "why have you decided to work with us" or "what attracted you to us" and then just listen! The trick is not to look for validation, but the actual words they are using. Then when you speak to your audience use their words!

Understand who you are targeting!
Say what you may about profile testing, but is really useful when you want to share your message. Understand your profile and the one of your audience. Now what do you ofer them that they can't do themselves? Here is an example - I know I am an action taker, I want to get sh*t done. My ideal customer however are visionairy, love to create and are hopeless tin finishing things. So, when I connect with my clients I know my point of difference is that I allow them to shine in their flow whilst together we are creating some truly magnificant work. My clients has 100% trust that our team works in the back ground so they can shine!

Use visual tools & hooks
Colour, images and video grab your audience attention. Make sure to utilise those. There is a reason why 500 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute worldwide (stats from 2019, so might be more these days!).
Ensure that your hooks are short, captivating and appeal to the audience! No point to share a spreadsheet with someone who is visual or sensual!

Consistency
You hear me often talk about the overnight success that took 18 months. There is no such thing as a silver bullet. With million of messages every day online, the first thing your audience is looking for is credibility. Ensuring that you haven't just popped up, but are a true expert in your field. So keep posting!

Show who you are
I know most of us don't want to be vulnerable online. We show the fancy polished high life, but don't share the hard stuff. And that's what people want to see. People do business with people, so show all of you, your authentic you to create an emotional connection.
