Did you know that the turtles think plastic bags in the ocean are jellyfish, eat them, float to the surface and die !.

Say NO to plastic bags is an initiative I have been involved with for many years in Byron Bay. My girlfriend leads the initiative here in Aus and my goodness, if I return from shopping with a plastic bag then look out!!!

But today, it is this entrepreneurial story which inspired me, not only is their initiative amazing but their whole business approach and their ability to measure their impacts is excellent, I am learning alot from them.

Here is a short version of their story....

Three years ago Melati and Isabel, then aged 10 and 12, were inspired by a class on people such as Mahatma Gandhi and Princess Di at the Green School in Bali. "We sat on the couch brainstorming - 'What can we do as kids on the island of Bali?" They knew rubbish was a big problem in Bali but it seemed insurmountable. And then they learned Rwanda banned polyethylene bags in 2008. "If one of the poorest countries does that, Bali should get on its game," Melati says. "We don't have to wait until we are older to make a difference." So Melati and Isabel formed Bye Bye Plastic Bags with their best friends. An initiative that they are working towards their objective, which is, by January 2018 is Bali Plastic Bags FREE!

Last week they marched in Morocco with many others at the CPO22 Climate Conference - how inspiring is this FB message.. "We marched today for love, for our eco systems, for our oceans, our forests, our mountains, rivers, skies and winds. We marched together with the people demanding CLIMATE JUSTICE NOW."

I absolutely adored and am in awe of the younger generation and their truely heartfelt desire to create a better world today so they can live tomorrow.

*If you go to Bali - support their goal by not taking plastic bags and not accepting plastic bags when shopping * It just such a simple thing to do, and wow what a difference it will make.
