We spoke with Cathy Sheppard about her entrepreneurial journey

How did you come across Genius Group and what inspired you to join the community?

I went to an event in Auckland five years ago, and it was just like finding my tribe. Inspiring people with lots of energy for making a difference through business. I found Genius Group to be an inspiring community, with lots of tools to help me learn about how to grow my business.

What was your experience in Crystal Circle?  Did the mentoring benefit you and your business?

I had a good experience in Crystal Circle.  Donna and Terri are great mentors with lots of good knowledge to support me to grow my business.  It doesn’t just happen; you have to do the work, but the support and team are there. I have also loved being a part of the Wealth Dynamics Masters programmes as they are invaluable for creating a strong blueprint for future growth.

Where are you and your business at today and what are your future plans?

I’ve grown from being a solopreneur with a VA, to having a team of five people, and still supported by a great team of VAs.  We are continuing to grow. Our Enterprise Promise is Empowering People, Changing the World.  We work with both businesses and teachers to enable that.

This year we are launching Workplace Culture Excellence Awards and a Culture Excellence Badge programme.  Both of these are to recognise the importance of people in business – an excellent culture enables a business to thrive, while also enabling people to live happy, healthy lives.

Leaders that Work, Teams that Work, Workplaces that Work.

The Maori Proverb, “He aha te mea nui o te ao? He tangata, he tangata, he tangata,” is a good fit with my business.

It means, “What is the most important thing in the world?  It is people, it is people, it is people.”

Where can we find out more about your company?
