If you truly want to be an impact investor, be sure you know what impact you are making.

One of the most exciting aspects of investing today is the opportunity to put your money to work in companies and projects that you feel passionate about. This is one of the most common conversations I have with women.

They are drawn to investing for the purposes of participating in impact investing. This usually leads us to a conversation about how to invest in wind and solar, and I have a pretty sobering explanation that goes with the question.

But rather than share my words, I’d like to share this video. While I speak about the realities in general terms, based on my reading about mining, the content in this recording comes to the same conclusions but with all the facts and statistics included.

To be a good investor is to dig deeper and find out what you are truly investing in.

Investors have money, and money has power. When we put it in a direction without knowing what it is doing or where it is going we can take a bad situation and make it worse.
There is a responsibility to investing - and that responsibility is to understand what your money is doing when it leaves you to go to work. Do your research and look for both sides of the story. There are always two sides.

In the story of energy sources, we must remember that our lifestyle is dependent upon the resources we pull from the environment - sun and wind are not the full story, the technology to harness them must be considered as well. Which technologies are less damaging in the long term?
